Lauren E. Tommasiello, Esq.
Senior Attorney II
Dedicated Family Law Advocacy Rooted in Rhode Island Experience
Lauren E. Tommasiello is a family law attorney at Turco Legal with nearly two decades of experience representing individuals, children, and families throughout Rhode Island. A lifelong Rhode Island resident, Lauren has devoted her legal career to helping people navigate challenging family law matters.
Her extensive background includes divorce, child custody, visitation, child support, guardianship matters, and complex proceedings involving the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF). She also brings significant experience in mediation, litigation, and appellate matters before the Rhode Island Supreme Court.
Having practiced throughout Rhode Island’s Family Court system, Lauren understands the local court procedures and the challenges families face during legal disputes. She combines her knowledge of the law with a compassionate, straightforward approach to client representation.
Lauren believes that people facing difficult family circumstances deserve an attorney who listens carefully, communicates honestly, and advocates for their interests. Her goal is to help clients understand their options and approach each stage of the legal process with confidence.
Nearly Two Decades of Family Court and Litigation Experience
Throughout her career, Lauren has worked extensively within the Rhode Island Family Court system, representing parents, guardians, and children in a broad range of legal proceedings.
Before joining Turco Legal, Lauren spent more than twelve years as a Staff Attorney and Guardian ad Litem with the Rhode Island Family Court’s Office of the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). In this role, she represented children involved in dependency, neglect, abuse, and termination of parental rights proceedings.
Her responsibilities included participating in court hearings, trials, and permanency proceedings. She also worked closely with parents, social workers, placement providers, and other professionals to address the needs and well-being of children involved in the court system.
Lauren previously served as Legal Counsel with the Rhode Island Office of the Child Advocate, where she acted as Guardian ad Litem for children voluntarily placed in DCYF care. Her work included investigating concerns involving children’s placements, educational needs, and access to appropriate services.
Earlier in her career, Lauren spent nearly seven years as a Staff Attorney at Rhode Island Legal Services, Inc. She represented individuals in family court proceedings involving child support, juvenile justice, child welfare, and other family-related matters.
These experiences have provided Lauren with an understanding of Rhode Island family law from multiple perspectives, including those of parents, children, and families navigating complex legal circumstances.
Extensive Trial and Appellate Experience
Lauren brings nearly twenty years of courtroom and litigation experience to her practice. Throughout her career, she has appeared before Rhode Island Family Court judges across the state and handled matters involving contested hearings, motions, trials, and appeals.
Her appellate experience includes handling matters before the Rhode Island Supreme Court, preparing legal submissions, participating in Supreme Court conferences, and presenting arguments during show cause hearings.
Lauren’s extensive experience within Rhode Island’s court system gives her a practical understanding of courtroom procedures and the preparation required to advocate effectively for clients.
She recognizes that litigation can be emotionally demanding, particularly when matters involve children, financial stability, or significant changes in family circumstances. Lauren approaches these cases with careful preparation, honest communication, and a commitment to protecting her clients’ interests.
A Thoughtful Approach to Family Law Mediation
In addition to her litigation experience, Lauren is a certified mediator in Rhode Island. She received her mediation certification through the Center for Mediation and Collaboration Rhode Island in January 2019.
Before joining Turco Legal, Lauren served as a mediator within the Rhode Island Family Court, helping parties work toward mutually acceptable resolutions in domestic relations matters.
Her mediation experience includes disputes involving divorce, child custody, visitation, child support, equitable distribution, financial matters, contempt proceedings, and modifications of existing court orders.
Lauren understands that not every family law dispute requires prolonged litigation. When appropriate, mediation can provide individuals with an opportunity to address disagreements, explore practical solutions, and reach agreements tailored to their circumstances.
Her experience as both a litigator and mediator allows her to evaluate family law matters from different perspectives while remaining focused on her clients’ needs and long-term interests.
A Commitment to Families and the Rhode Island Community
Born and raised in Rhode Island, Lauren has spent her entire legal career serving individuals and families throughout the state.
Her work with Rhode Island Legal Services, the Office of the Child Advocate, and CASA reflects her longstanding commitment to helping people through difficult legal and personal circumstances.
Lauren understands that few individuals anticipate becoming involved in Family Court proceedings. She believes that having an attorney who listens, provides straightforward guidance, and advocates with compassion can make a meaningful difference during an uncertain time.
Throughout her career, Lauren has worked with families and children facing complex challenges. She brings that same dedication to her practice at Turco Legal, helping clients navigate sensitive family law matters with clarity, respect, and confidence.
