Nicoletta Longo, Esq.

Associate Attorney

Nicoletta Longo is a divorce and family law attorney, representing clients in a broad range of domestic relations matters. These matters include actions for divorce, child custody and support, and alimony, as well as modifications of custody and support, and contempt.

A Deep-Rooted Commitment to Family Law

As a law school student at New England Law | Boston, Attorney Longo developed a strong passion for family law.  Although not every student chooses a concentration in law school, Attorney Longo did, selecting this practice area. She in turn heavily focused her law school coursework on the various aspects of family law, providing her with important foundational knowledge in the field.

Attorney Longo’s law school experience went well beyond the classroom, however. Between semesters one summer, she gained practical family law experience as a member of Suffolk University Law School’s (“Suffolk Law”) domestic violence and family law clinic. At Suffolk Law, she assisted domestic violence survivors in navigating the legal system during the COVID-19 pandemic. She worked with clinic clients to better shape optimal outcomes in their cases. And, she also helped clinic clients fill out and file the appropriate paperwork and court forms for their divorce and child custody matters.

Through this opportunity, Attorney Longo availed herself of the experiential learning offered through the clinic, while simultaneously pursuing her passion for both family law and assisting domestic violence survivors. She also further developed her interviewing, issue-spotting, and problem-solving abilities. Today, Attorney Longo continues to refine these skills as a family law attorney.

Certified Financial Litigator: Rigorous Training in the Financial Aspects of Litigation

Attorney Longo earned her Certified Financial Litigator (“CFL”) credential from the American Academy for Certified Financial Litigators (“AACFL”).*  The AACFL seeks to provide “advanced financial training to help [litigators] perform at a higher level…[,] to make more accurate representations to the Court, and to be able to handle the financial aspects of litigation in a more cost efficient manner for their clients.”

To obtain the CFL credential, Attorney Longo had to first complete comprehensive training on the financial aspects of litigation. Among others, training topics included: complex compensation structures; asset and business valuation; accounting; investments; and taxation. After completing the course, Longo had to pass the CFL exam, thereby demonstrating a deeper proficiency in the financial issues that often arise in divorce and family law cases.

Although any family law practitioner is bound to confront financial issues in their cases, Attorney Longo’s CFL credential distinguishes her. Given her rigorous financial training, Longo is well-equipped to critically analyze complex financials, craft persuasive legal arguments regarding the same in divorce and family law cases, and successfully resolve cases for her clients.

Extensive Supporting Experience

Her time at the Suffolk Law clinic during law school was not Attorney Longo’s first. As a Suffolk University undergraduate student, Attorney Longo earned her paralegal certificate. This pursuit was a stepping-stone toward a deeper engagement with the law. It also demonstrated her dedication to the field. Impressively, while working toward her paralegal certification, Attorney Longo was one of only six undergraduate students invited to take Suffolk Law’s Family Law course. This distinction was more than honorary. It allowed her to work closely with a Suffolk Law SJC Rule 3:03 Student Attorney, serving as their paralegal in the law school’s clinic. Attorney Longo gained invaluable hands-on experience early in her career through this role.

Attorney Longo later joined Turco Legal, first as a research and writing assistant and then as a family law paralegal before her promotion to the Associate Attorney role. This progression from research and writing assistant to attorney wasn’t just a career transition. It was a period of rich, practical learning and skill refinement. In her early days at Turco Legal, Longo gained a comprehensive understanding of family law, better mastering the intricacies of its rules, processes, and the nuances of document drafting. She moreover honed her writing skills and developed a keen understanding of client needs and expectations. This foundational experience in family law has been instrumental in her current success as an Associate Attorney and she leverages it to excel in her field.

Turco Legal Litigator: “Justice for All Program”

In family law, where the stakes encompass the very core of personal identity and life’s most cherished relationships, the need for competent and compassionate legal guidance is paramount. These cases–often entwined with one’s financial security, emotional welfare, and parental bonds–carry consequences that reverberate far beyond the courtroom. Yet, a sobering reality confronts our field. A vast majority—around 80 percent—of individuals in probate and family court are navigating these turbulent legal waters without an attorney, primarily due to financial constraints. This gap in legal representation challenges the principles of justice. And, it underscores a systemic inequity in accessing legal resources. Turco Legal, recognizing the gravity of this disparity, has launched the “Justice for All Program.” This access to justice initiative seeks to deliver legal services through reduced-fee representation.

Attorney Longo provides legal representation through the “Justice for All Program” as part of her caseload. She brings a harmonious blend of sharp analytical skills and genuine compassion to her practice. This duality in her approach ensures that the representation provided under the “Justice for All Program” is not only legally astute but also profoundly attuned to the emotional intricacies of each case. In this light, Attorney Longo is not just serving her clients; she is upholding a broader commitment to ensuring justice in family law cases. Her role in this program is an affirmation of Turco Legal’s dedication to extending quality legal counsel to a wider community, thus reinforcing the foundational tenets of justice and equality.
