Kristin Sherman, Esq.
With over 15 years of experience, Attorney Kristin Sherman is a seasoned family law attorney and exceptional advocate for her clients. Attorney Sherman’s primary focus is divorce law. Yet, she also has extensive experience in other areas of family law. These areas include child custody and support, as well as modification and contempt. Attorney Sherman’s divorce and family law experience is further informed by her prior litigation experience. Before joining Turco Legal, Attorney Sherman practiced in the areas of child welfare, juvenile law and educational advocacy.
Attorney Sherman believes her work as a zealous advocate in the courtroom starts with her attorney-client relationship outside of the courtroom. She, therefore, works closely with her clients. Her goal is, first, to fully and compassionately understand her clients’ perspectives and needs. As a result, she is then able to counsel her clients on the complex legal issues in their cases. Attorney Sherman takes her ability to translate complex issues into understandable terms into the courtroom. This is how both clients and judges prefer explanation. And, this is how Attorney Sherman operates.
Extensive Experience with Complex Child Custody and Parenting Issues
Before joining Turco Legal, Attorney Sherman served on the Children and Family Law Trial Panel of the Committee for Public Counsel Services (“CPCS”). In this role, she represented parties through complex custody issues. These cases involved abuse, neglect or abandonment. Unfortunately, these issues also regularly emerge in divorce and custody cases. Accordingly, Attorney Sherman’s knowledge and experience with these difficult topics ensure that she is prepared to resolve even the most difficult cases.
Attorney Sherman has also served as a bar advocate for CPCS’ Delinquency and District Court Trial Panel. As a result, she represented children, advocating strongly on their behalf and giving them a voice.
Active in the Newburyport Community
Giving back to the community has always been an integral part of Attorney Sherman’s identity. So, Attorney Sherman has served on the building commission of the Emma Andrews Public Library in Newburyport. She has also volunteered in various roles with the Newburyport Public Schools.
