Theresa Gomes is a seasoned family law litigator who represents clients in all domestic relations matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, marital estate division, and paternity. Having practiced law since 2005, Attorney Gomes has extensive experience negotiating and conferring with co-counsel, drafting motions and memorandums of law, arguing motions, and going to trial.

AACFL-Accredited Certified Financial Litigator

Attorney Gomes is a Certified Financial Litigator (“CFL”), having earned her designation from the American Academy for Certified Financial Litigators (“AACFL”)*. To obtain the CFL designation, a litigator must undergo rigorous, specialized training in the financial aspects of litigation. This includes compensation, taxation, business and asset valuation, and investments. Upon completion of the AACFL training, the litigator must then pass the CFL exam. This process demonstrates the litigator’s commitment to maintaining technical competence and higher credibility regarding financial matters in litigation.

Having a firm understanding of financials in litigation can have a real impact on the result of a divorce or family law case. As a CFL, Attorney Gomes manages the financial aspects of litigation in an effective and efficient manner for her clients. Coupling her years of family law experience with her advanced financial training, Attorney Gomes is able to fully grasp and analyze complex financials, effectively navigate complex financial disputes, and construct strong legal arguments that will lead to the best outcomes for her clients.

Providing Mentorship Through Academia

Since 2016, Attorney Gomes has taught legal courses as an adjunct professor at Bunker Hill Community College (“BHCC”). Her professorship is a testament to her legal acumen and reflects a passion for giving back. Attorney Gomes recognizes the vital role her mentors have played in her career. She accordingly uses her professorship not only to share her legal knowledge with her students but also to share the guidance and mentorship she herself has received.

Zealous Client-Centered Advocacy

Prior to attending law school, Attorney Gomes worked as a police officer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (“MIT”). While working at MIT, she took a paralegal course, which propelled her to make a career move from law enforcement to the practice of law.

As a parent, Attorney Gomes understands how important it is for a client to have a competent, client-centered family law attorney who cares about the client’s situation and works for their family’s best interests. And so, she is most passionate about helping clients obtain the best, individualized solutions for them and their children.
