FLOC & National Speech & Debate Association’s 2022 Legal Oratory Scholarship
Turco Legal is proud to partner with the National Speech & Debate Association to help build the oratory skills of students in our community. National Competition
The first-place competitor at both the East and Midwest competitions will now compete live in a final round, which will be held in Louisville, Kentucky on June 12, 2022. This final round will take place in person at 1:30 PM ET at the Kentucky Expo Center on registration day for the National Speech and Debate Tournament.
One round will be held, during which each first-place regional winner will present a Pro Con Challenge speech on the following topic:
“Should a free press prioritize objectivity over advocacy?”

The FLOC first-place regional winners will have their travel expenses paid through Mockingbird Marketing. Mockingbird Marketing will contact the first-place regional winners to arrange their travel.
National competition winners will receive the following college scholarships:
- $7,500 for the National first-place winner
- $2,500 for the National runner-up
All individuals attending the final round in Louisville–including students, coaches, and chaperones–must comply with the NSDA COVID-19 health and safety requirements. Masks are required for all attendees while indoors; although the competitors may remove their masks while they are presenting. All individuals must be fully vaccinated and up-to-date on their COVID-19 vaccinations, or apply and receive approval for a medical or religious exemption. Exemption applications are due by May 15.
Again, thank you to all those who participated in the regional competition, and congratulations to our Eastern Region winners!
