Meenah Keenan, Esq.

Associate Attorney I

Attorney Meenah Keenan represents clients in all areas of family law, including divorce, marital asset division, child support, child custody, alimony, and paternity. She also advocates for her clients’ evolving needs through contempt actions and post-judgment modifications.

From Judicial Law Clerk to Family Law Litigator

Attorney Keenan’s experience as a Judicial Law Clerk in the Worcester Probate and Family Court sparked her interest in family law. This prestigious role allowed her to refine her legal research and writing skills while learning about family court practices and family law litigation.

Working with her assigned judge, Keenan observed meetings with judicial clerks and case managers, deepening her understanding of probate and family court procedures. She also conducted legal research on critical family law issues like child custody, child support, and parenting time, and drafted judgments in modification and contempt cases. This role prompted Keenan to further her family law education while in law school, where she enrolled in practice area-related courses, including Family Law, Child and Disability Law, and Negotiations.

Today, Attorney Keenan draws on her judicial clerkship experience to provide informed, strategic, and empathetic representation in divorce and family law cases. Her legal research and writing background enables her to efficiently and effectively draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, settlement proposals, and separation agreements. Keenan is also able to confidently guide clients through complex legal processes given her deeper understanding of family court procedures.

Zealous Advocacy Backed by Hands-On Experience

Attorney Keenan is committed to zealously advocating for clients during deeply personal and challenging times. Her ability to communicate clearly and empathetically stems from hands-on experience as a Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Rule 3:03 Student Practitioner serving first in the Family Law Unit of Harvard Legal Aid Bureau and then in the Juvenile Defenders Clinic at Suffolk Law. Keenan sharpened her advocacy and case management skills through both experiences.

Keenan applies the skills she developed as a 3:03 to her present-day family law practice. As a family law litigator, she focuses on compassionate client interviewing, thorough motion and discovery practice, skillful negotiations, and collaboration with third parties and collaterals to successfully resolve cases while prioritizing her client’s goals.

Distinguished Academic Career

Attorney Keenan’s law school experience is marked by outstanding academic achievements and leadership. Keenan earned a place on Suffolk University Law School’s Moot Court Honor Board through a competitive process and ultimately served as Vice President (2023-24). While on the Board, she contributed to the Journal of Trial and Appellate Advocacy, writing her first piece on an important family law issue—specifically, embryo disposition in divorce.

Keenan also reactivated the Child and Family Law Association at Suffolk Law. Serving as Co-President, she led a team of students in hosting impactful events that explored issues affecting children and families. These events included a Divorce Law Panel, a Cradle-to-Prison Pipeline Panel, and a discussion with Fathers’ UpLift.
