What Our JFA Clients Are Saying

“not only a fierce advocate but also a true partner in the process…”

Working with Nicoletta Longo and the team at Turco Legal has been an outstanding experience. Nicoletta is an exceptional attorney—sharp, strategic, and deeply compassionate. From the start, she brought clarity to a complicated process and offered steadfast support through every step of my case.

What sets Turco Legal apart is their team’s unique perspective—many have backgrounds in social work or advocacy, which brings empathy and insight to their legal practice. They are tireless advocates for women, children, and families navigating a system that can often feel overwhelming and inaccessible.

Nicoletta combines her strong legal skills with a rare level of care and integrity. She is not only a fierce advocate but also a true partner in the process, ensuring I felt heard, empowered, and supported at every turn. I wholeheartedly recommend Nicoletta Longo and Turco Legal to anyone seeking outstanding family law representation.

How the JFA Program Works

  • Attorney Representation: You’ll receive associate attorney representation, which are the attorneys on our team with the least experience, typically in their first three years of practice. Each associate attorney is supervised by a partner and supported by a paralegal.
  • Reduced Hourly Fees: Your associate attorney’s hourly rate will be reduced to between $75 and $175, depending on the attorney’s experience and skillset. The associate’s paralegal’s rate will be reduced to $75 an hour and legal assistant’s rate reduced to $50 an hour. The associate attorney will be supervised by a partner. The partner may bill at the regular partner rate of $500 per hour for oversight and strategic input.
  • Limited Assistance: This program only provides limited assistance representation (LAR), which means you’ll manage the case with our input and may choose to handle aspects of the case on your own. This also means you or we may terminate the representation at any point. Most JFA clients have their associate attorney manage virtually all of the tasks required of the matter.
  • Eligibility: To be eligible for the program, you must meet financial resource requirements, and your case must not have so much complexity that a more experienced attorney would be required for the majority of the professional judgment to be exercised and work to be performed. People with less than $100,000 in household income and no other source of funding our regular rates are financially eligible. An attorney will evaluate the facts and circumstances of your case through a consultation. This will determine its complexity and suitability for the program.

Why We Offer This

  • The Law is Complex and Ever-Changing: It really shouldn’t be that, in order to obtain justice, you must have an attorney. The variety of laws and rules makes it nearly impossible for an inexperienced non-attorney to understand them all. Unfortunately, this is often the case. Obtaining justice often means that you need an attorney. This program’s driving force has always been helping deliver justice to those in need. It, in turn, supports individuals without the financial resources to afford regular attorney rates.
  • The Justice Gap is Extraordinarily Large. While capitalism has created a marketplace in which family law attorneys can make a very good living serving those with the greatest financial resources, nevertheless, for a large majority, about 85%, of the people in need, attorney representation is out of reach. It’s our view that people walking away from the courthouse feeling the process was not fair due to not having an attorney is not something we can accept. We’ve prospered from the benefits of the system and, in our humble opinion, it’s our responsibility to figure out ways to effectively serve the rest of society.
  • Turco Legal is Designed to do This. We’re a growing boutique family law firm, which is why we’re perfect for this type of program. In contrast, the vast majority of other family law attorneys are either solo practitioners, who would generally need to take a massive reduction in pay to offer this, or attorneys practicing in the family law departments of larger firms, who may therefore not see the value in lowering their pricing to address this problem.

Justice for All Program FAQs

Will I need to pay a retainer?

Yes. You’ll pay a retainer between $1,000 and $1,500. Importantly, this is not the last payment you’ll pay. We’ll hold this retainer in our attorney trust account, called an IOLTA, until our representation of you has concluded. You’ll additional for paying your attorney’s fees and costs each week as they accrue.

How much time will I have to pay my bill each week?

The payments are due immediately upon receipt of your statement. We run statements and payments each week, typically on Fridays. You’ll receive a draft statement in the morning, followed by a charge to your payment method for the amount of fees and costs which accrued since the last billing. If your payment method fails, we’ll apply your retainer, and you’ll have two days to resolve the issue. If not resolved in that time frame, we’ll close your file and refund any remaining funds you have in trust.

Do you offer payment plans?

No. We do not offer payment plans, but our merchant service provider, LawPay, offers a Pay Later option, which requires a separate application and, if accepted, payment terms. We cannot accept your case until we have a payment method on file that can be charged as the case proceeds, which is not possible with the Pay Later option. You may use it for your initial payment, but we’ll need a different payment method before your case can be onboarded.

Can you have the court order the other party to pay my fees?

Maybe. Obtaining attorney’s fees and costs from the other party in a case is sometimes possible but obtaining them is almost always uncertain. For this reason, you’ll need to secure your own source of funding to pay your fees, but it may make sense for us to ask the court for fees from the other party depending on the case type and facts.

Can I hire you right before a court hearing or other case event?

Probably not. It takes time to get up to speed on your case and we’re also regularly in court on our existing cases, so there may be a scheduling conflict if you try to engage us at the last moment.

How much is this going to cost in total?

That’s a great question but a difficult question to answer. The matter won’t resolve fully until we either settle the entirety of the issues in an agreement accepted by the court, or until you go to trial and receive a judgment. There is an enormous range of how much work will be required of the attorney in family law cases and, even when the hourly rate is significantly reduced, it’s very difficult, if not impossible, to accurate estimate the total cost.

What can I do to keep my costs down?

Great question. Here are a few reliable ways to keep your costs down:

  • Be as efficient as possible.
  • Be organized.
  • Keep your communications concise.
  • Be reasonable and willing to compromise. Rarely does anyone receive everything they want.
  • Try to work things out directly with the other party, when reasonably possible.
  • Follow the direction of your attorney.
If I am not eligible, can I still hire Turco Legal?

Yes. Turco Legal has an experienced team of divorce attorneys and family law lawyers, the majority of which have over 15 to 30 years of experience. While we’re very proud of our Justice for All program, the substantial majority of our clients engage the firm for full representation with our senior attorney team.
